Macbeth is a round character until halfway through the play when predicting what he will do in a situation becomes easier. As a society, we expect men to be in a way, emotionless, but Macbeth shows much kindness and confusion when deciding on what he will do to gain power. He lets his wife control his actions and he expresses his deep feelings about the choices she makes for him. Although Macbeth's is on the exterior strong, committed, and valiant, he is, in fact, much weaker as demonstrated by his malleability.
When Macbeth is surrounded by other people, he seems to feel obligated to show powerfulness a sense of leadership. Macbeth visions himself as a strong person able to take on any task thrown at him. People that don’t know him as well label him as valiant because he puts on a great mask. Act one sergeant was talking to malcolm and duncan about macbeth “For brave Macbeth--well he deserves that name…” 1:ii:16. These characters believe that Macbeth is bold and not afraid of anything.
The real personality of Macbeth lies with the absence of other people except for his influential wife, Lady Macbeth. Behind close doors, anxiousness flows out of Macbeth like a gushing waterfall. Before the murder of Duncan, Macbeth's true personality wasn’t so clear. He showed loyalty to the king but as soon and he starts talking to Lady Macbeth, his feelings change drastically. Anything the lady says sounds like the right choice to Macbeth. These situations are where the term malleability comes to play. What this man's wife tell him, he believes is right. Sometimes when a person is too nice they tend to let their opinion sink under everyone else's which is exactly what Macbeth does. Lady macbeth Is fully aware of the overdose of kindness Macbeth possesses “It is too full o' the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way…” 1:V:14-16. When lady Macbeth says these lines, she is describing Macbeth's character to give the audience a better understanding of why Macbeth acts the way he does.
Even with the mask of confidence, figuring out Macbeth's true colors isn’t too hard of a tast. Many people in today's world struggle with the constant need to feel powerful and in charge. When people appear confident everything really depends on how well the person can hide emotion. Everyone has a breaking point and the longer it takes a person to break the more power they appear to have.
I thought your intro was very well done, the beginning sentence seems a little out of place and awkward. Maybe put a sentence to grab the reader's attention and to transition it into the next sentence. It also may be helpful to add important sections of the story into the introduction, like Duncan's and many others murders. I thought that your transition sentence and explanation to your quotes were very well done, but it may be helpful to add more quotes to your paragraph, as only one quote is too little evidence for your claims. Your conclusion was also very well planned out and left a powerful mark on the reader, but it may be helpful to go over important claims from your body paragraphs and the evidence presented in the paragraphs and put them into your conclusion. Overall your paragraphs are well executed, I believe you just need to add more evidence from quotes to make your essay complete.
