MACBETH CHARACTERIZATION ESSAY
Identifying a character from a play can be easy for its actions and clues and having a response on why a character named Macbeth changes and his motivations. Also defining his personality features throughout the play. He chooses treachery and crime, knows them for what they are and is totally aware he is doing evil. Macbeth is a famous play by William Shakespeare known for its violence situations. The story begins as one of a loyal and honorable hero of Scotland.
Beginning of the story of Macbeth, (1:IV, 22-27) “The service are told...But what is not.” That line from the book tells us that Macbeth shows loyalty to king Duncan. Macbeth regresses from a compassionate, caring, and conscientious man, to an entirely apathetic of cynical numbness to himself. In Line (1:iv, 48-53) “The prince of cumberland...which fall down…for in my way it lies.. when it is done to see.” means that Macbeth is trying to choose a choice to kill the king or not. On the other hand Lady Macbeth is describing what kind a coward Macbeth is too weak and too kind to be king in (1:v, 13-28) “ Glamis thou art, and cawdor, and, shalt be what thou art promised...too full o’ the milk of human kindness...to have thee crowned withal.” Macbeth and his partner, Lady Macbeth work as a team to create a plan to kill the king. Macbeth doesn't want to murder, but he desperately wants to be king. He doesn't want to be guilty or anyone to find out while Lady Macbeth is being evil and pushing pressuring Macbeth to do it.
Macbeth is a round character because the story changes with surprises. He changes throughout as you read Macbeth. Macbeth’s motivations were to become king and last a whole lifetime. Banquo got in Macbeth’s way of becoming king. So Macbeth went to the 3 witches and asked for what the outcome for the future. When Macbeth tells his wife about what the witches told him, she convinces Macbeth to kill the king in order to overtake the throne. It shows that 8 kids Banquo has just showing that Macbeth won't be king forever. Both rationality and love as he contemplates murdering Duncan, his final decision in this matter illustrates
this ethical perfectly. Later, we see evidence of a descent from this when he is deciding to kill Banquo.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were crazy for eachother. They were in love but Macbeth totally turned his back on her once he became king. When Lady Macbeth died, Macbeth could careless. In (Line 17 Pg. 285) “she should have died hereafter.” Meaning Macbeth finds his queen dead and gave no emotion. At the very end, Macbeth was a dark person and didn't have the goods in him anymore. He spoke out (line 22 pg.486)“and all our yesterdays have lighted fools..” meaning there's no meaning to life, itt's pointless.
Macbeth is introduced in the play as a warrior hero. He overcame by his hubris, and chooses to commit murders in order to fulfill his ambition to be king that leads to his destruction. Later in the play, she does get consumed with conscience and ends up suffering from terrible paralyzing guilt. Both, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were falling apart after murdering the king. It was a beginning to the end.
One of the most profound and disturbing themes in Shakespeare’s Macbeth involves the power exerts over an individual who has ascended a post of authority. William Shakespeare's Macbeth is a dark play that shows guilt, murder, power, and how they affect people. Throughout Macbeth, the destruction wrought when the ambition goes by moral constraints unchecked. To find its most powerful expression in the play’s of two main characters. Although he was noble and honorable in the beginning of the play, Macbeth’s evil deeds are misunderstood: infact, it was his vulnerability and need for approval that led him to his downfall tragic hero.
