In the story Macbeth, the main character Macbeth undergoes a plethora of challenges that force him to decide between one loved one to another. In spite of the fact that Macbeth, most prominently in the beginning of the play, is seen as a strong, valiant, and loyal man, he is in reality a conformist to his loved ones expectations. This type of conformity and his inability to aggregate his own viewpoints and apply them ultimately lead to his demise.
Throughout the story, Macbeth is regarded as a generally strong man, who is celebrated for his victories in battle. “But all’s too weak: For brave Macbeth - well he deserves that name”. This quote by ___ shows how highly people regard his strength, saying that nothing is stronger than him. Although Macbeth is characterized by his physical strength, that of his mental state was not as prominent. Although you can see him fighting his manipulative wife’s influence, he eventually gave in, sending him further into insanity.
Macbeth also is regarded as a valiant and loyal man to the king. “1:iv, 50” this quote really shows his conformist nature, as he plays to the king's desires. Although some may argue that loyalty and valiance were in part of his nature, you can see that his persona changes as he is influenced by other opinions besides those of the king. His fear of disappointing those that he is close to causes an internal crisis that is expressed by his action of killing and losing touch with emotion he once had.
Macbeth is seen as independent and a leader in the beginning of the play, however the reason for this is questionable because he gives no cause for this concept. He didn't once form his own opinion on a matter without the influence from another person or group of people. An example of this would be when he went to the witches for life advice when he knew that they were the ones who created the mess in the first place. This displays his need for guidance, despite all reason.
In conclusion, Macbeth is truly a product of his environment.
Hello! You have a good start in the introduction and a central idea of your essay, but it isn't quite finished. In the introduction Sergeant said that line in Act 1, scene 2. At the end of the paragraph, you described that Macbeth wasn't 'all there' in the head which isn't relevant in that paragraph because you're talking about how strong he was before, maybe add a quote about how King Duncan praised him for his loyalty or how brave he was. The two paragraphs about your thesis didn't relate to it. Add quotes about what led to his death and how Macbeth couldn't control his feelings. I'm not sure what the view points are in the rest of the essay and it could use more quotes to clean it up. I like your word choice through out the essay!
